Twitter as a Listening Device
Dangerously Irrelevant had a nice link to an article on academics using Twitter over at the Chronicle of Higher Ed.
My favorite response was actually from Jay Rosen who says that rather than thinking of Twitter as a way to broadcast info (despite his 25 or so posts a day), it was "far more valuable to me as a listening device".
That's sort of the way I tend to use it outside of classroom uses. It can be a great place to passively seek info.
