As great as Twitter is, it really can’t achieve what our current methods of education can achieve and have achieved. But perhaps it can be used to support education in some way.Tutoring Sydneyhttp://www.matrix.edu.au/great-learning-environment/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-78417349856105338802012-04-19T17:02:40.833-04:002012-04-19T17:02:40.833-04:00I've found Twitter to a powerful tool for lear...I've found Twitter to a powerful tool for learning, sharing and connecting as well.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10956056168256756705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-19586690433060262782012-04-19T17:02:12.744-04:002012-04-19T17:02:12.744-04:00It has to be a hybrid, blended, connected approach...It has to be a hybrid, blended, connected approach.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10956056168256756705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-71642826042641669602012-04-19T17:01:28.480-04:002012-04-19T17:01:28.480-04:00I'll have to check those out!I'll have to check those out!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10956056168256756705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-42595547175650398502012-04-19T17:01:09.808-04:002012-04-19T17:01:09.808-04:00I'm all for a revolution, but not because it&#...I'm all for a revolution, but not because it's archaic. I use a TED clip from Renny Gleeson a lot in my presentations that talks about the disconnect some of our media and devices have created within us, mostly due to our inability to wrestle with the new norms. Gleeson's plea at the end, calls upon the TED audience to design things that help make us more human, not less. They maintain that networks shape and influence us in ways that we don't yet understand. And David Weinberger's "Too Big to Know" taught me that networks are changing the shape of knowledge itself. I learned more on Twitter (from folks I never met) than I ever did an any university program. I think we need to study networks and the behaviour of people in them. The web (and Twitter) is changing all of that.dabambichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17849126021240149664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-10792578387381030672012-04-18T23:06:26.420-04:002012-04-18T23:06:26.420-04:00Your opening line...As the kids filled out their s...Your opening line...As the kids filled out their silent, kill-and-drill test...gave rise to your wanderings about Twitter as a learning platform. But you're right, John. I keep thinking back to some of the online courses I've taken that feel somewhat lacking to me since the element of face-to-face conversation is not present.

I think if we start employing a combination of the two - Twitter-ish style ongoing conversation and face-to-face (Google Hangout style) meetups, we may have a recipe for success with eLearning.Jeffhttp://instructionaltechtalk.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7029419017923677229.post-86659155238394691112012-04-18T07:02:12.018-04:002012-04-18T07:02:12.018-04:00I have just become addicted to Twitter. Also, to be able to share great ideas with the simple stroke of a keyboard to enhance our teaching is incredible. I agree with what you say regarding the times that Twitter cannot be justified being used.thaddeus71https://www.blogger.com/profile/00840113333384226604noreply@blogger.com
